Do I need any experience to join?

None at all. Roughly seven in ten of our students had never set foot in a dojang before their first class. Beginners are taught alongside their own rank, never thrown in with advanced belts, and the first class is always free.

What is the youngest age you accept?

Four. The Little Tigers program is built specifically for ages four to six, with 45-minute sessions structured around short attention cycles. Below four, we suggest waiting a year — the mat will still be here.

Question 3

What should I bring to my first class?

Loose clothing you can kick in, a water bottle, and bare feet. That's it. We provide all pads and protective gear for trial classes, and your dobok (uniform) is included free when you enrol.

Am I too old to start?

Our oldest active student began at fifty-eight and graded to green belt last year. Adult classes scale intensity to the individual, sparring is optional, and nobody is asked to do anything their body has not been prepared for.

How often should I train?

Twice a week is enough to progress steadily and is what the Foundation membership is built around. Three to four sessions is where most students find their technique starts to compound. Competition squad athletes train five to six times a week.

Is sparring compulsory?

For adults and Little Tigers, no. From the Kids program upward, light contact sparring in full protective gear is part of the colour-belt syllabus from green belt onward, because control cannot be taught in the air. Any student can opt out and grade on the technical syllabus instead.

How dangerous is Taekwondo, really?

Injury rates in a well-run dojang sit below football and basketball. Everyone spars in a helmet, chest guard, shins, forearms, gloves and a mouthguard. Contact is graded by belt level, and every instructor holds a current first-aid certificate.

How long does a black belt take?

Four years of consistent training is a realistic minimum, and it is the Kukkiwon-recommended pace. Students who train twice a week and grade at every eligible opportunity typically reach 1st Dan between four and five years. Nobody is fast-tracked.

When are gradings held?

The final Saturday of every month. Students are invited by their instructor once they have met the minimum training hours and can demonstrate the full syllabus for their rank. You are never entered for a grading you are not ready to pass.

Are your black belts internationally recognised?

Yes. Every Dan grade issued at Chandragiri Tigers is certified by the Kukkiwon in Seoul, the World Taekwondo headquarters, and is recognised in every affiliated country. Your certificate travels with you.

Can I pause my membership?

Up to eight weeks a year, for travel, exams, injury or anything else. Just tell us before the billing date. Memberships are month-to-month — there is no annual lock-in unless you choose the discounted annual plan.

Do you offer family or sibling discounts?

Every additional member of the same household receives 15% off their membership, with no cap. Several of our families have four members on the mat.
